Neuraspace Recap 2024: The Year of the Telescopes

Newsletter (4)

From launching advanced telescopes in Portugal and Chile to empowering customers like ESA, Sidus Space, Spire, NanoAvionics, Geosat, U-Space, and the Portuguese Air Force we tackled the challenges of a crowded orbit head-on. With the support of key partners we’ve built safer, smarter, and more sustainable space operations.  Together, we led the changes in this market.

Here’s how 2024 became a year of impact and transformation for us all.

Customers Highlights

    • Sidus Space: Sidus Space selected Neuraspace to manage its satellite constellations,  ensuring mission safety and longevity with our AI-powered Space Traffic Management platform and LEOP services.
    • Spire: Spire chose Neuraspace to monitor its satellite constellations, providing automated alerts and collision avoidance features for improved mission safety and efficiency.
    • NanoAvionics: NanoAvionics has integrated Neuraspace’s STM solution into its LEOP and operations package, enhancing collision analysis and manoeuvre planning. This integration improves safety for satellites and provides automated operations, ensuring the protections of assets at all times.
    • U-Space: French startup U-Space, a pioneering designer and manufacturer of small satellites, has selected Neuraspace to protect its satellites for two upcoming missions.
    • EISCAT Partnership: Neuraspace joined EISCAT Scientific Association, gaining access to radar observation time and advanced atmospheric data. This partnership will allow Neuraspace to leverage AI/ML algorithms to improve space objects taxonomy and behaviour prediction, offering a better view of the space environment.
    • Portuguese Air Force: Neuraspace has partnered with the PT Air Force to install an optical telescope in Beja under the “AI Space Debris” project, focusing on airspace safety and space sustainability.
    • EMISSARY Project: Neuraspace joins €160M European Defence Initiative “EMISSARY” consortium, the single largest investment and major initiative in space situational awareness in Europe. The project aims to develop Space Domain Awareness by developing a next-generation sensor network and a military-grade Space Situational Awareness Command and Control (C2) system.
    • New Optical Telescopes Inaugurated in Beja and Chile:  In September, Neuraspace installed its first optical telescope at Air Base No. 11 in Beja, Portugal, expanding  satellite tracking coverage in the Northern Hemisphere. In November, a second telescope was added in Chile, capable of detecting objects as small as 10 cm in LEO and 2 m in MEO and GEO. These telescopes achieve an angular accuracy of less than 1.5 arcsec RMS, enabling precise tracking of slower and brighter targets, and capture high-frequency data with agility, producing tracks from seconds to minutes and enhancing our AI-driven platform.

Product Updates

  • Launch of SYNC and PRO: We launched a new SYNC tier (free) and PRO tier (subscription-based), enabling real-time information exchange between satellite operators. Both tiers offer automated high-risk conjunction management, simplifying STM operations for our users.
  • Enhanced Data Fusion: With data from multiple sources (including radar, optical, laser, and space weather data), our correlation and fusion capabilities allow operators to make decisions based on precise, real-time insights.
  • LEOP: Neuraspace’s LEOP service helped a satellite operator during the crucial launch phase by providing accurate tracking and orbit updates through GNSS data and its optical telescope. This solution enabled the operator to reduce the LEOP timeline, accelerate in-orbit testing and earlier revenue generation.
  • 8x Faster Conjunction Screening: Neuraspace has developed a solution that reduces manoeuvre screening time compared to industry standards. Our platform quickly and accurately screens planned manoeuvres against our space object catalogue, enabling close to real-time operations.
  • Optimised Manoeuvre Screening Model: Neuraspace introduced an optimised manoeuvre screening model to its PRO platform, providing operators with fuel-efficient collision avoidance options. Advanced algorithms and the Free Slots feature simplify decision-making and improve response times.
